RescueThank you for checking out our rescue page. Dogs need new homes for many reasons and good owners that recognize they are now longer able to have a dog go to great lengths to ensure their dogs' new home will be ideal. Please note that we are just the middle person in the Rescue Bouvier placement system. We keep files on the people interested in providing a home for a needy Bouv. We like to know the lifestyle that will be offered in the new home. Things like whether the home is urban or rural, who will be sharing the space (kids, other dogs, cats, livestock), preference for an inside or out side dog, male or female. We collect the same information from the person wishing to place the dog. It is our goal to find a new home that meets the needs to the individual Bouvier as identified by the owner. We then put the potential new home person in contact with the current owner so together they can ask and answer all the right questions to ensure the fit will work. If the fit is wrong we can go back to our files to find perhaps a better fit. The person placing the rescue Bouvier should not be charging a fee for their dog as the Alberta Bouvier Club does not charge for this service. Although, donations to the Alberta Bouvier des Flandres Club for rescue services would be gratefully appreciated from both parties. ****ADOPTED**** November 9th, 2011 - Four year old fawn neutered male - Cranbrook, British Columbia
We have placed Buddy in a temporary foster home here, however, he still needs a permanent home. The more time we spend with him, the more it is becoming
apparent that he lacks socialization. He is scared of his own shadow. Has given us no sign of aggression except for the growling when he's confined in a kennel. As soon as we get him out he just tries to jump away from anything out of the ordinary (people, cats, horses, etc.). The sooner he goes to a permanent home the better as change is not so great for him. If interested in giving this guy a home he desires please contact ***Adopted*** October, 2011 - One year old neutered male - Calgary, AlbertaI have had Duke for 1 yr and the only reason I am thinking of giving him up is because of my allergies. He is my 2nd bouvier but for some reason my allergies \ asthma are being affected by him in an adverse way. He does shed a bit more than most bouvs but much less than a border collie. Duke is a very well behaved dog, gets along with other dogs big or small, but has high prey drive and if he has free run outside in your setting may be put in harms way from vehicles or predators etc. He lived on an acerage before and hunted the farm animals and from what I am told will kill a cat if given the chance. If you have other dogs he will live with them no problem but not cats.Like most bouvs they prefer to be in side with their owners and not be left outside alone. He would actually bark to come back inside. Apart from this he is very well behaved - knows all common commands and walks well on a leash. He is 3yrs old - not sure of exact birth date but I am told his bday is in the spring. He is a great eater and eats a high quality fish based food. Duke is 27" at the shoulders and weighs close to 110lbs. He is a powerful dog that needs owners that are more alpha than he is becasue he will push the envelope with his master if you don't show him who the boss is. If you do this he will follow you anywhere and will listen to you very well. Bouvs don't turn on a dime like a border collie. That might be something you might have to get use to, and if you want a breed that does that; a Bouv isn't a good fit. He likes going into lakes and rivers, but doesn't swim, as common with Bouvs. They get very heavy in water due to their coat. I am telling you all the good \ bad \ and the ugly of the breed \ Duke - I know them well. I want his next home to be for the rest of his life - he deserves a great home and lots of love, exercise, and excellent diet. As you can see I love Duke to death and am very sad to have to let him go. Please read the famous article written by Pam Green on all the reasons why you shouldn't own a bouvier - if you read this and still believe the breed is right for you give me a call @ 403 560 5057 - We can talk about what does and does not apply to Duke in the article and I can answer any additional questions you might have. Thanks for your interest Jeff Samis ***Adopted***August 31, 2011 - One year old neutered male - North Bay, OntarioA one year old neutered male bouvier is in need of a new family as his current owner can no longer keep him (her accomodation won't allow it). Mic comes from Quiche Bouviers just outside of Windsor, Ontario and turned 7 on May
5th. He is very smart, handsome, and loyal. He loves walks or running around,
consistency is a must otherwise he can become anxious (a common bouvier trait), he
likes to have us in his sights, and is most happy when we are all together. He is an indoor
dog and sleeps in our room on his own bed. He is not allowed on furniture.
He is well trained but stubborn (also a bouv trait) and he gets along well with other dogs.
Mic is a great companion, loves with his whole heart and is surprisingly clever. We have
been very happy with him and it brings us great sadness to have to make this decision,
however we know that Mic would not do well in the extreme heat.
Please contact Eric or Terry Andersen if you would like more information.

***ADOPTED*** Cagney - Beautiful - ten year old neutered male Bouvier.
Cagney's current owners got Cagney when he was three. He has been and is their best friend and dog they have ever had. They have had two other Bouviers over the years and all of them had personality but Cagney is the most expressive. Unfortunately due to work, Cagney's owners have to move from their Ranch where Cagney has had the run of the place. Cagney was a house dog when his owners got him but now he prefers to be outside unless it’s very cold.
Looking for a loving family that has an acreage or farm where he can look after the place. He has been around kids and people all his life and has never acted badly. He loves everyone.
Please contact Monique or Carolyn for more information.
